ISOLATED SHOWERS TODAY; HEAVY RAIN LIKELY TONIGHT… Today will continue to feature dreary, cool conditions across the region with a few isolated showers being possible throughout the day. Tonight is when we may have heavy rain at times with what could be the most significant rain event our area has had in awhile. Scattered showers will begin increasing in coverage this afternoon into this evening. Heavy rain will be possible from 7PM to 2AM. Widespread severe storms are not expected, but there could be a few lightning strikes and some thunder around the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches.
MONITORING A WARM FRONT NEAR COAST TONIGHT… I will be monitoring trends this evening as we have a very low-end risk of a few stronger storms near the northwest Florida coast, specifically, as a warm front moves northeast. There is high confidence in widespread rain and perhaps a few thunderstorms. Confidence, however, is much lower in the idea of any severe storms across land areas due to the exact track of the area of low pressure and accompanying warm front. IF we see this warm front move a bit further inland, that would potentially allow a few rotating storms to develop. This risk would generally be in place along and south of I-10 in parts of northwest Florida. The most likely scenario is these areas have rain and storms at times with no severe storms. I will have updates posted as needed in the RedZone Weather app.
LINGERING SHOWERS POSSIBLE TUESDAY… Isolated showers may be possible early Tuesday morning as rain clears out to our east. High temperatures on Tuesday will be in the low 50s. Clearing skies are likely later in the day. Tuesday night will be a cold night with overnight lows in the upper 20s north of U.S. Highway 84 with 30s likely down to the coast.
DRIER, COLDER CONDITIONS ON WEDNESDAY… Partly cloudy skies and cold temperatures are expected on Wednesday. High temperatures will struggle to get to the mid 50s. Cloud coverage will likely increase late in the day.
ANOTHER SIGNIFICANT RAIN EVENT POSSIBLE LATER THIS WEEK… Multiple waves of rain and thunderstorms will be possible on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. If you have outdoor plans this weekend, you’ll need an indoor backup as scattered to numerous showers seem likely, particularly on Friday and Saturday.
2025 HURRICANE SEASON HAS ENDED… The 2025 Atlantic Hurricane Season has officially come to an end as of yesterday. 13 named storms happened this year, of which 5 became hurricanes and 4 of those became major hurricanes. This was the first season since 2005 that had three category 5 hurricanes (Erin, Humberto, and Melissa). This was also the quietest hurricane season for the Gulf region since 2014. No tropical storms or hurricanes made landfall along the U.S. Gulf Coast. Only one tropical storm (Chantal) made landfall along the U.S. East Coast. No hurricane landfalls happened along the U.S. coast. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season will begin on Monday, June 1, 2026.
