COLD MONDAY TO START A COLD WEEK; TEMPS NEAR & BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT… Winter has made its return to south Alabama and northwest Florida and it’s here to stay for the next 7 days. Partly cloudy skies are likely across the region on this Monday with afternoon highs in the low to mid 50s. Tonight will be the coldest night we have had in awhile. Overnight lows will be in the upper 20s inland tonight with low to mid 30s likely closer to the coast. Tonight may be the coldest night of the week with most of us dipping into the 20s. Our forecast will remain mostly dry throughout the week, however showers may become possible as we get into the upcoming weekend.
NO RAIN OR PRECIPITATION EXPECTED THRU SATURDAY… This will be a mostly cool, dry week for the most part with a reinforcing shot of cold air coming in Wednesday night into Thursday. Highs will be near 60 degrees on Tuesday and Wednesday. There is a low-end rain chance (10%) on Wednesday with showers being possible near the coast. Thursday will have highs closer to 45° after the passage of a cold front. Overnight lows on Thursday night into Friday may be in the mid 20s further inland.
UNCERTAINTY SURROUNDING THE SUNDAY PRECIPITATION POTENTIAL… Don’t get too excited just yet but we do have a potential for precipitation on Sunday. That precipitation will very likely be in the form of rain, however, it is important for me to note there is a very small chance that we could have some snowflakes mixed in as the precipitation is departing our area to the east. See more details in the morning forecast video. It is very tough to forecast snow more than 2 days out. This event is 6+ days out. A lot can and will change between now and then. There is a real chance we remain dry for the duration with no snow.
