PARTLY CLOUDY TODAY; WIDELY SCATTERED SHOWERS POSSIBLE TODAY & FRIDAY… The vast majority of communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain completely dry on this Thursday. I am expecting a mix of sunshine and clouds, thus we’ll call it a partly cloudy day. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the low 80s north of I-10 with upper 70s likely near the beaches and bays. A few highly isolated sprinkles and showers may be possible today, specifically this evening. Most communities will remain dry. This will be an identical pattern to what happens tomorrow and probably into Saturday as well. Rain chances will remain low, but not completely zero.
LOW (NOT ZERO) RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK… Moisture values will increase across the region tomorrow into Saturday, potentially providing enough support for a few widely scattered showers each day. Rain chances are expected to remain low, but not quite zero, though Sunday. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 80s tomorrow and Saturday with morning lows in the low 60s.
SEVERE WEATHER RISK ZONES WELL TO OUR WEST… The Storm Prediction Center has defined severe weather risk zones for parts of the southern Great Plains and the Ozarks region today, tomorrow, and on Saturday. In addition, severe storms may set up in the same areas on Tuesday of the upcoming week. If you have travel plans to parts of Arkansas, Oklahoma, north Texas, Kansas, or Missouri over the next few days, make sure you have a good way to hear urgent weather warnings. Tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail will be possible in the strongest of the storms in those states in the days ahead.
