SCATTERED STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE INLAND LATER TODAY; GUSTY WINDS & HAIL POSSIBLE… Spotty showers will be possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida today, but MOST communities will remain completely dry. This evening, after 4PM, we could have a few strong to severe thunderstorms across inland areas of southwest Alabama in areas north of U.S. Highway 84. This batch of storms may be severe. Large hail, up to golfball size, along with damaging wind gusts will be the primary concerns. The overall tornado risk remains quite low today, but perhaps not entirely zero across inland areas. Today will be a day that we really need to heed the warning for severe thunderstorm warnings as hail could be quite large in any thunderstorms that become severe. This isn’t a “slam dunk” forecast as the overall severe weather threat is quite conditional, meaning a certain set of circumstances would have to come together to support severe weather. High temperatures will be in the low 80s inland with upper 70s expected near the coast. Another round of active weather is expected Wednesday ahead of a cold front.
SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – THIS EVENING… 4PM to 9PM this evening is the main window for any strong to severe storms to develop across inland areas of southwest Alabama. Severe weather is not expected in northwest Florida today. Any lingering storms after 9PM are expected to be below severe limits.
MAINLY DRY TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY DURING DAYTIME HOURS… We get a break in the active weather tomorrow, tomorrow night, and into the daytime hours of Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the low 80s tomorrow and on Wednesday. Overnight lows will be in the low 60s. Severe storms will become possible on Wednesday night into Thursday.
ANOTHER ROUND OF STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE WED. NIGHT INTO THURSDAY… Strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing all severe weather hazards will become possible across parts of the Deep South on Wednesday night into Thursday morning as a cold front approaches our region from the northwest. It is too early to nail down specifics on what communities will have which hazards, but we are expecting scattered severe storms across parts of the region on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Rain will clear out on Thursday ahead of fantastic weather upcoming for the weekend.
BEAUTIFUL WEATHER UPCOMING THIS WEEKEND… Cooler, drier air arrives on Thursday behind the advancing cold front. Highs on Thursday will be in the 60s. Overnight lows Thursday night into Friday morning will be in the low to mid 40s. Sunny skies are in the forecast for Friday and Saturday with high temperatures rebounding into the 70s.
