SPOTTY STORMS TODAY, MAINLY IN WEST ALABAMA; RAIN POSSIBLE EASTER SUNDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on this Tuesday. The greatest chances of rain will happen in areas west of the Alabama River in parts of west Alabama. We probably will have a few showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms in areas to the south and east in parts of south-central Alabama, coastal Alabama, and northwest Florida, but overall, the rain coverage will maximize in parts of west Alabama. The best chances for rain today will happen between 10AM and 6PM. Storms will be scattered in nature, and thus it is near impossible to pinpoint who will get rain and who won’t. I will have radar updates posted throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app. High temperatures will be in the mid 80s on this Wednesday. Looking ahead, our next considerable chance of rain will happen on Easter Sunday.
DRY CONDITIONS EXPECTED ON THURSDAY… Partly cloudy skies are likely tomorrow (Thursday, April 2) with high temperatures in the mid 80s. We will have a drier air mass in place across the region tomorrow, likely inhibiting the development of any showers or storms.
A FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY… Humidity levels creep up on Friday into Saturday. Spotty, mostly P.M. showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two will be possible each day. High temperatures will b sin the mid 80s with morning lows in the low 60s. There will be a good amount of sunshine on Friday and Saturday, but a few, widely scattered showers will also be possible.
RAIN & PERHAPS A FEW STORMS POSSIBLE EASTER SUNDAY… We’ll be tracking a cold front moving southeast across the Deep South on Sunday. This frontal boundary may cause just enough of an overlap of ingredients to support a few strong thunderstorms. In addition, highly beneficial rain is likely across the area as this front moves through. It is too early to nail down specifics about rain amounts. Timing is also a bit uncertain, but expect scattered showers and thunderstorms at times on Easter Sunday. High temperatures will be around the 80 degree mark on Sunday ahead of cooler temperatures arriving Sunday night into Monday.
COOLER TEMPERATURES NEXT WEEK… High temperatures will be in the low 70s on Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week after the passage of the cold front on Sunday evening. Overnight lows Monday night into Tuesday are projected to be in the upper 40s inland with 50s likely closer to the coast.
