MORE POP-UP STORMS TODAY; LOWER (NOT ZERO!) RAIN CHANCES TOMORROW… Pop-up showers and thunderstorms will again be possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida throughout the day on this Tuesday. It won’t rain all day in any given community. The greatest chances of rain will happen between 1PM and 5PM. Storms will generally happen first closer to the coast before building further inland this afternoon into this evening. All of the storms will be capable of producing gusty winds, heavy rain, cloud-to-ground lightning, and loud thunder. Thankfully, widespread, significant severe weather is unlikely today. High temperatures will range from the low 80s north of US84 to the low 90s closer to the beaches.
LOWER RAIN CHANCES TOMORROW AND THURSDAY… We will likely have more sunshine throughout the day on Wednesday and on Thursday, however a few, spotty showers and storms can’t be ruled out. The overall coverage of rain and storms will decrease markedly compared to previous days. High temperatures will be in the low 90s each day.
HIGHER RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND… An uptick in the daily deluge of pop-up showers and thunderstorms seems likely as we get into Saturday and Sunday. As is so typical for this time of year, storms will be scattered in nature with most (not all) of the storms happening in the afternoon and evening hours.
TROPICS: GULF, CARIBBEAN, ATLANTIC QUIET… No tropical storms are expected to form in the Gulf, Caribbean Sea, or Atlantic Ocean this week or into the upcoming weekend. Several disturbances are happening in the eastern and central Pacific Ocean. None of the disturbances pose an imminent threat to Hawaii. The National Hurricane Center indicates there is a 90% chance of a tropical storm forming south of Mexico in the Pacific that will move northwest several hundred miles offshore in the days ahead. That system, nor any in the Pacific Basin, are ever expected to pose a direct problem for Alabama or Florida.
