MAINLY SUNNY, HOT TUESDAY; LOW-END RAIN CHANCES TODAY… Mainly sunny, hot, and humid conditions are expected across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s with the hottest places (mostly inland) reaching the upper 90s. Heat index values may be as high as 105° this afternoon. Rain chances are quite low, but not completely zero, with a highly isolated shower or thunderstorm being possible. The best chances of a few showers and maybe a thunderstorm or two will happen in northwest Florida. Rain chances will peak from 4PM to 8PM today, but again, I emphasize that MOST communities will be dry and mostly sunny throughout the day.
LOWER RAIN CHANCES THROUGH THE END OF THE WEEK; HOT TEMPS CONTINUE… An easterly flow will usher somewhat drier air into the region Wednesday through Friday, keeping rain chances low while also reducing the humidity ever so slightly. A few isolated showers or storms may move into coastal Alabama late tonight into Wednesday morning, but most land areas will stay dry. Thursday will likely be dry across the region before a few showers or thunderstorms become possible Friday P.M. Highs will be in the 90-95° range Wednesday, followed by low 90s on Thursday and Friday.
RIP CURRENT ALERT… Beachgoers should be aware that a High Risk of rip currents is expected at the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches Wednesday and Thursday. Dangerous rip currents can quickly pull swimmers away from shore.
SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND… Rain chances will begin to increase Saturday, with greater coverage of showers and thunderstorms expected Sunday into Monday. Saturday will still feature plenty of dry time, but more communities may have pop-up storms around as moisture returns throughout the weekend. High temperatures will generally be in the low 90s.
TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… The National Hurricane Center is not highlighting any tropical disturbances in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea. No tropical storms are expected to develop in the Gulf or Caribbean over the next 5-7 days.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE IN NORTH-CENTRAL ATLANTIC OCEAN… The National Hurricane Center continues to monitor a trough of low pressure located a little more than 1,000 miles east-southeast of Bermuda. This feature is well away from land areas. Showers and thunderstorms associated with this disturbance remain disorganized because of strong upper-level winds. Development is not expected during the next 48 hours, but conditions may become more favorable by the middle to latter part of this week as the system moves west-northwestward across the central subtropical Atlantic. There is a low, 30% chance of development over the next 7 days.
