SLIGHTLY COOLER, DRIER AIR MOVING IN TODAY; REFRESHING TEMPS TOMORROW… Relief from the oppressive summer heat arrives today into tonight! A cooler and drier airmass will move into south Alabama and northwest Florida today as a backdoor cold front advances across the region from the northeast. High temperatures will be in the 85-90° range this afternoon. Lower humidity and slightly cooler temperatures will become more noticeable tonight and tomorrow, with high temperatures on Friday likely to be in the mid to upper 80s. It’s a subtle, yet very welcome, change!
VERY LOW-END RAIN CHANCES TODAY… Most communities will remain dry today, although a brief, isolated shower or thunderstorm cannot completely be ruled out as the front moves through. Rain chances will fade further tonight, followed by dry conditions across the entire region tomorrow.
HIGHS IN 80S TOMORROW; PLEASANT TEMPS FOR HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL… High temperatures will be in the 80s tomorrow, with lower humidity making conditions feel noticeably more comfortable. Dry weather is expected tomorrow evening for high school football games across south Alabama and northwest Florida. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s at kickoff around 7PM, falling to around 70° by the 4th Quarter of each game. Pleasant weather!
WONDERFUL WEATHER FOR THE WEEKEND… Saturday and Sunday will feature mostly dry conditions and plenty of sunshine. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s Saturday before some communities approach 90° Sunday. Some inland spots may briefly dip into the upper 50s early Saturday morning, with 60s expected in many other communities. The air will feel much less humid than the last few weeks through the weekend.
MAINLY SUNNY EARLY NEXT WEEK… The mainly dry pattern will continue Monday and through much of Tuesday. Most communities should remain rain-free, although an isolated shower or storm may become possible by Tuesday. High temperatures will generally be in the upper 80s and near 90° early next week.
EARLY SIGNS OF SCATTERED STORMS IN ABOUT A WEEK… Rain and thunderstorm chances are expected to increase by Wednesday of the upcoming week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms may develop across the region, with rain chances currently projected to be in the 30-50% range. This is near the end of the 7 Day Forecast, so details concerning timing and coverage may change over the next few days.
TROPICS: REMNANTS OF TROPICAL STORM FAY IN NORTH ATLANTIC… The area of low pressure formerly known as Tropical Storm Fay is located about 800 miles southwest of the Azores. Shower activity has increased, but significant redevelopment remains unlikely as the system moves generally westward. The National Hurricane Center indicates a 20% chance of redevelopment over the next 7 days. Increasingly strong upper-level winds should end any redevelopment chance by the weekend. The remnants of Fay are well away from land areas. No direct impacts are expected in the USA.
TROPICS: TROPICAL WAVE NEAR THE WEST COAST OF AFRICA… An area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave is located about 600 miles southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands. A short-lived tropical depression could form today or tomorrow as the system moves northwestward. NHC indicates a 40% chance of development over the next 7 days. Strong upper-level winds should prevent further development by the weekend. Gusty winds and heavy rain will be possible in parts of the Cabo Verde Islands over the next few days.
TROPICS: GULF AND CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… Tropical storm formation is not expected in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea over the next 5-7 days. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season will officially end on November 30.
