SPOTTY SHOWERS & STORMS TODAY; COOLER TEMPS COMING THIS WEEKEND… Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are possible across south Alabama and northwest Florida today as a cold front moves into our area. Thunderstorms are possible, but the potential for severe weather remains quite low. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. The front will slow down and stall before finally pushing south of our area Friday, setting the stage for cooler, drier weather this weekend.

SCATTERED RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE INTO THIS EVENING… Rain will be more likely across inland communities today, with lower chances closer to the coast. Places like Grove Hill, Thomasville, Greenville, and Evergreen have a higher chance of rain than communities near the beaches. Showers and storms may linger into this evening, but rain will come in passing waves rather than being continuous throughout the day. The stronger upper-level support will pull away from our region, helping to limit severe weather potential. A few stronger storms could produce gusty winds, but widespread severe storms are not expected. The overall tornado risk remains very low.

TRENDING DRIER TOMORROW… Rain chances decrease tomorrow, although a few lingering showers will remain possible with the stalled front nearby. This will be a gradual transition rather than an immediate switch to much cooler, drier weather. Afternoon highs Thursday will still be in the upper 70s to low 80s. Drier air will begin working into northwestern parts of our area by Thursday evening, but the more noticeable change holds off until the weekend.

A FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE FRIDAY, PARTICULARLY NEAR COAST… A few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm will remain possible Friday before the front moves south of our area by Friday evening. Most communities will remain dry, with rain chances remaining low overall. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s to low 80s. Another disturbance passing to our north will help give the front a final push, allowing cooler, drier air to move in Friday night.

COOLER TEMPERATURES THIS WEEKEND INTO NEXT WEEK… The weekend will feel noticeably cooler, especially by Sunday. High temperatures Saturday will range from around 70° to the upper 70s, followed by mid 60s to low 70s Sunday. Rain chances will be quite low both days. Cooler weather continues Monday with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s before temperatures rebound into the low to mid 70s Tuesday. Nights will turn cooler as well with lows in the 40s.

TROPICS: SUBTROPICAL DEVELOPMENT POSSIBLE SOUTH OF BERMUDA… The National Hurricane Center indicates a medium (40%) chance of subtropical development over the next 7 days associated with an area of low pressure expected to form a few hundred miles south of Bermuda. The low could gradually acquire subtropical characteristics late this week or this weekend while moving slowly eastward across the western to central Atlantic. Conditions are expected to become less favorable for development early next week. The forecast movement keeps this system out in the Atlantic rather than bringing it toward the Gulf.

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… The National Hurricane Center is not highlighting any areas for tropical development in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea in the current 7-day outlook. The 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season will end on November 30.
