COOL, MOSTLY DRY CONDITIONS THROUGH THE WEEKEND… Next notable chance of rain happens on Monday of the upcoming week ahead of a cold front pushing through the region.
Highs around this time next week will be in the 40s with lows below freezing. Cold air is here to stay for awhile! 🥶
COOL & DRY NEW YEAR’S DAY; RUMORS OF SNOW BUT NOTHING CONCLUSIVE YET… Happy New Year! I hope you, your family, and your friends have a wonderful start to the Year 2025. We have an abundance of sunshine in the forecast today with high temperatures set to be significantly cooler than the last several days. Highs today will only be in the upper 50s with low 60s closer to the immediate coast. Quiet weather is expected to continue tomorrow with highs in the 50s. We note that overnight lows tonight will be at or below the freezing mark further inland with upper 30s near the beaches.
SNOW UPDATE… I continue to receive questions regarding the “snow situation” across the Deep South. It is impossible to predict with any sort of precision or accuracy as far as IF or WHEN snow will happen in 7-10 days across parts of the Deep South. It’s tough two days out, let alone ten days out. Will snow happen across southern states? It is possible. But it is completely impossible (and irresponsible), at this stage, to try to pinpoint any details. We know that significantly colder air will be in place across our region in about 7 days. We know there COULD be an area of low pressure that develops in the Gulf of Mexico and moves northeast. Will there be enough overlap of cold + precipitation to get snow in the Deep South? That is the tricky part and we simply do NOT know yet. That isn’t what most people want to hear, but it’s the truth. Stay tuned. Quite frankly, a lot of the folks posting crazy snow maps and projections are doing it to gain social media engagement. Be aware of that when you see the hype and hyperbole posts in the days ahead.
