MOSTLY CLOUDY WEDNESDAY; ISOLATED STORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON… Cloudy skies will persist for much of the day on this Wednesday with a few pop-up storms being possible as we get into the afternoon and early evening hours. Unfortunately, rain amounts today (in the areas that actually have showers and storms) won’t stack up to much at all. Most of us will simply have a cloudy day with high temperatures ranging from the upper 70s near the beaches to the mid 80s inland. More active weather is on the way for the upcoming weekend with multiple chances of beneficial rain.

WARM AND DRY THURSDAY… We start the day tomorrow with temperatures in the 50s and low 60s around 6AM. Temperatures will quickly rise throughout the morning with highs expected to be in the low to mid 80s by 3PM. Partly cloudy skies are likely throughout the day on Thursday.

RAIN & STORMS POSSIBLE AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… For the first time in a long time, we have a pattern flip set to happen this weekend that will pave the way for multiple chances of rain and thunderstorms. It all starts on Friday night when a low-end chance of a few showers will happen. Chances of rain rise, particularly for inland communities near and north of US84, on Saturday. Spotty showers and thunderstorms will be possible region wide on Saturday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Sunday as well, but details remain a bit murky as to the overall placement and coverage of storms on Sunday.

SEVERE WEATHER SETUP TO OUR NORTH ON MONDAY… The Storm Prediction Center has multiple days of severe weather risk zones through this weekend and into early next week for areas to our north and west. SPC has included much of north and west Alabama in a Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone valid for Monday, April 27. This risk zone also includes much of Tennessee, the northern half of Mississippi, northern Louisiana, eastern Arkansas, southern Kentucky, and southeast Missouri. Tornadoes, damaging wind gusts, and large hail will likely be concerns. Most likely, much of the severe weather issues on Monday will remain to the north of south Alabama and northwest Florida. Spotty showers and thunderstorms may be possible across the local area Monday P.M. into Tuesday A.M.
