SUNNY TUESDAY WITH HOT TEMPS THIS AFTERNOON; TROPICS QUIET; COLD FRONT COMING… Plenty of sunshine and a hot afternoon are ahead for south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, with no rain expected today. High pressure will keep the warm, dry pattern in place through midweek before a strong cold front brings a noticeable change Friday night into Saturday. With hurricane recovery ongoing and some areas still without power, the heat remains a concern for folks working outside or without air conditioning. The Gulf and Caribbean remain quiet, with only one disturbance highlighted well out in the eastern Atlantic.
NO RAIN EXPECTED THROUGH THE WEEKEND… Our dry weather pattern is expected to last through Sunday. An upper ridge of high pressure will build over the region through tomorrow, keeping rain out of the forecast and afternoon temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s. Even with the cold front arriving late this week, moisture looks too limited to support much, if any, rain. Rain chances remain very low through the weekend.
COLDER AIR ARRIVES FRIDAY NIGHT… The cold front is expected to cross our area Friday evening into Friday night. Cooler air will move in behind the front, setting up a substantial temperature drop between Friday and Saturday. This looks primarily like a temperature change rather than a rain event. Lows Friday night will fall into the upper 50s to upper 60s across the region. Breezy, northerly winds will also develop over the area Friday night.
EXTREMELY PLEASANT TEMPERATURES THIS WEEKEND… Much more comfortable afternoons are in store for Saturday and Sunday, with high temperatures generally in the low to upper 70s. That will be a welcome change from the hot afternoons earlier in the week! Saturday night into Sunday morning will bring lows in the 50s inland, with 60s closer to the coast. Dry conditions are expected for weekend plans. Temperatures will begin to rebound Monday, with afternoon highs in the upper 70s to near 80.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE IN ATLANTIC NEAR CABO VERDE… The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an elongated area of low pressure a few hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands. Showers and thunderstorms remain disorganized, and the system has a low, 20% chance of developing into a tropical depression or tropical storm over the next 7 days. Stronger upper-level winds are expected to shut down the opportunity for development today. Regardless of development, heavy rain and possible flooding remain concerns for the western Cabo Verde Islands as the disturbance moves slowly north to north-northwest.
TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN QUIET… The National Hurricane Center is not highlighting any tropical disturbances in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea. Neither area has an active named tropical storm or hurricane. Hurricane season continues through November 30, but the current outlook has no areas flagged for potential development in the Gulf or Caribbean.
