GORGEOUS MONDAY; STORMS BY THURSDAY… Our streak of nice, sunny days is set to continue on this Monday with high temperatures approaching 80 in most spots this afternoon. Our next weathermaker will move through on Thursday, when we have an 80-90% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Shortly after this video was produced this morning, models certainly seem to be ramping up the idea for parameters to be a bit more favorable for a few strong to severe storms on Thursday. Let’s look at details…
SUNNY TODAY & TUESDAY… No weather issues to speak of today, tonight, or tomorrow, other than areas of patchy dense fog being possible in the morning hours. High temperatures this afternoon will peak in the low-80s with overnight lows by 6AM Tuesday being around 55. A big area of high pressure will keep us mildish and dry through Wednesday morning.
FEW SHOWERS LATE WEDNESDAY… Showers, with maybe a few embedded thunderstorms, will spread eastward from Mississippi in the P.M. hours of Wednesday. No doubt that the greater rain chances will almost certainly be on Thursday, however.
FEW STRONG STORMS THURSDAY… We’ll be able to get more specific in the next few days as more model guidance continues to pour in, but there is at least some chance that a few strong to severe thunderstorms could move through our area on Thursday. Some model scenarios point to a squall line moving from northwest to southeast across our area, mainly during the morning hours of Thursday. The concerns, if that risk materializes, would be damaging straight line winds and brief, spin-up tornadoes. Again, too early to know exactly what the risk is at this point… We’ll be monitoring the situation closely over the next few days. Be sure to check back with me throughout the week about this evolving severe weather potential.
ANOTHER NICE WEEKEND AHEAD… Storms will be gone by late Thursday, setting the stage for another glorious weekend across Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will again be around the 70 degree mark with morning lows in the 40s.
OSCAR STAYS AWAY… Oscar strengthened into a hurricane in the open waters of the central Atlantic Ocean on Sunday evening. No land impacts are expected as the system moves slowly westward today and tomorrow before moving rapidly northeast and out to sea later this week.
TROPICAL UPDATE… The rest of the tropical Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico, remain quiet. The 2018 Atlantic Hurricane Season officially ends November 30, although we note that activity should ramp down considerably over the next few weeks.
See all the details in your Monday #rzw forecast video… Enjoy the day!

ALL SUNSHINE TODAY; NICE FEW DAYS AHEAD… Our weather pattern remains nice, sunny, and mild today and over the next few days. High temperatures this afternoon will peak around the 80 degree mark with an abundance of sunshine. Sunny days and clear nights are expected Monday into Tuesday as well. We’re monitoring Tropical Storm Oscar in the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean and we’re looking ahead to yet another gorgeous weekend. Let’s talk details…
NEXT RAIN CHANCE: MIDWEEK… Showers and thunderstorms will increase in number on Wednesday ahead of a significant (80-90%) chance of rain on Thursday. This rain is response to a cold front that will move in from our northwest, bringing more cool, refreshing air to the area by Friday. For now, severe weather parameters remain low with no signficiant issues expected with this next weathermaker. We’ll be watching trends carefully in the next few days.
TROPICAL STORM OSCAR… Oscar became a tropical storm late on Saturday, transitioning from a subtropical storm. The system has maximum sustained winds near 70 mph, meaning Oscar is on the cusp of becoming a hurricane. Oscar will move west today, tomorrow, and on Tuesday before making a sharp right turn to the north late in the day on Tuesday. Once the system turns, it will accelerate out to sea and quickly become extratropical by the end of the week. No direct U.S. impacts are expected.
FANTASTIC WEEKEND AHEAD… Looking ahead to the upcoming weekend, high temperatures will be seasonal (60s and 70s) with plenty of sunshine expected.
See all the details in your Sunday #rzw forecast video that will be available shortly in the RZWeather app… Enjoy your evening!

STREAK OF SUNNY, NICE DAYS AHEAD… A cold start this morning is kicking off a streak of sunny, nice days starting today and lasting through at least Tuesday. Most of us are starting in the upper-40s and near 50° this morning. High temperatures across south Alabama and northwest Florida will be around 70° this afternoon, although with a brisk wind out of the northwest, it will feel pretty cool throughout the day.
HOPE IN THE MIDDLE OF CHAOS… The featured photo this morning is of the sunset view I captured earlier this week in Mexico Beach, Florida. The people of the Florida Panhandle, southeast Alabama, and southwest Georgia continue to recover, but they need our love, encouragement, and our support in the weeks and months ahead.
OSCAR IN THE ATLANTIC… Subtropical Storm Oscar formed last night in the open waters of the central Atlantic Ocean. The system will drift around the central Atlantic, well north of the Leeward Islands and east of Bermuda, in the days ahead. No land impacts are expected due to Oscar.
ALL SUNSHINE THROUGH TUESDAY… Sunshine in the day and clear skies at night will highlight our weather pattern through Tuesday. We warm to around 81° by Monday in the afternoon hours. No weather issues are expected through Tuesday.
NEXT CHANCE OF RAIN MIDWEEK… We’ll call it a 10-20% chance of rain on Wednesday with a 70% chance of rain on Thursday as yet another cold front gets ready to pass by our area from northwest to southeast. At the moment, the parameters for severe weather remain low, although anytime we have a situation like this with a cold front passage in the fall months, we have to monitor carefully. Be sure to check back for updates in the days ahead.
NEXT UPDATE… Since our weather pattern is (finally) a bit quieter, updates will be a bit more infrequent than usual this weekend in the RedZone Weather app. My next forecast video will be posted by 4PM on Sunday.
Have a great weekend!

CLOUDY DAY FOR MOST… Clouds continue to hang tough across much of south Alabama and northwest Florida. Temperatures are stuck in the 60s in most spots inland. It’s a bit warmer closer to the immediate coastline where most spots are under partly cloudy skies.
Clearing skies will continue to be the story into the overnight hours and into Saturday morning. Lots of sunshine is expected on Saturday with fall-like temperatures.
