FEW POP-UP P.M. STORMS TODAY & THURSDAY; SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES FOR WEEKEND… Mostly sunny skies this morning will give way to partly cloudy skies this afternoon into the evening hours. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible during the P.M. hours today. There is about a 1 in 3 chance of your community having rain before the end of the day. This means MOST communities will probably remain dry and hot this afternoon. High temperatures will range from near 90° inland to the mid 90s closer to Interstate 10. Tomorrow will be quite similar to today with low-end rain chances.
SCATTERED, POP-UP STORMS FRIDAY AND INTO THE WEEKEND… Rain chances will be slightly more elevated on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Scattered, pop-up showers and thunderstorms are most likely to happen in the afternoon and evening hours. It certainly won’t be an all day rain event, but I am expecting more in the way of pop-up storms this weekend. High temperatures will be near the 90 degree mark.
MORE OF THE SAME INTO NEXT WEEK… Our seasonal, summer pattern continues into next week with no real forecast changes in sight. High temperatures will continue to be around the 90 degree mark with overnight lows in the 70s. At least some chance of spotty, P.M. showers and thunderstorms will exist each day.
TROPICAL UPDATE… The National Hurricane Center continues to indicate no tropical storms are expected to form over the next 5-7 days in the Gulf, Caribbean Sea, or Atlantic Ocean. Climatologically speaking, August, September, and October are usually the most active months of hurricane season. There is a growing chance, because of El Niño, that this season may be one of the quietest seasons in years. Still a long way to go in the season!
