HEAT ADVISORY TODAY; HOT, & HUMID; ISOLATED P.M. STORMS… Big time heat and humidity will be the main weather story across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Friday. High temperatures will be in the 93-100° range with heat index values ranging from 105-113° this afternoon. A Heat Advisory is in effect for all local counties through 8PM. Extreme heat and humidity will persist into tomorrow and Sunday as well. Most communities will remain dry today, although a few isolated showers and thunderstorms may develop this afternoon, particularly in communities east of Interstate 65 as the seabreeze moves inland. Organized severe weather is not expected.
MORE POP-UP STORMS THIS WEEKEND; HEAT CONTINUES… The upper ridge of high pressure dominating our weather pattern will weaken slightly this weekend as more moisture moves in from the east. This will allow isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms to become slightly more numerous on Saturday and Sunday. Most of the showers and thunderstorms will happen in the afternoon and evening hours. It certainly won’t rain all day, and not every community will have rain, but more pop-up storms will be around tomorrow compared to today.
HOT TEMPS TO CONTINUE THRU WEEKEND… High temperatures will be in the 95-101° range on Saturday. Sunday highs will generally be in the 90s with the hottest inland communities again near 100°. Dangerous heat index values will remain possible throughout the weekend, and additional Heat Advisories will likely be needed.
HOT WEATHER CONTINUES NEXT WEEK… Rain chances will trend slightly lower Monday through Thursday of the upcoming week. Only a few isolated, P.M. showers and thunderstorms will be possible each day. High temperatures will remain in the 90s with some of the hottest inland spots potentially reaching the 100° mark. A lot of folks are asking when we may see some cooler weather, but unfortunately, there is no meaningful relief from the heat in sight over the next several days.
TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea are not expected to support tropical storm formation over the weekend.
TROPICS: INVEST 92L IN CENTRAL ATLANTIC… INVEST 92L is a tropical wave located about 1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. The disturbance has become less organized and does not currently have a closed circulation. Strong upper-level winds and dry air are expected along its path, causing development chances to decrease. NHC indicates a 60% chance of development over the next 7 days. Gusty winds and areas of heavy rain will be possible in parts of the Lesser Antilles tonight and Saturday regardless of whether development happens.
TROPICS: INVEST 94L IN EASTERN ATLANTIC… INVEST 94L is a tropical wave located several hundred miles southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Gradual development will be possible as the system moves westward or west-northwestward across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic. NHC indicates a 50% chance of development over the next 7 days. Both 92L and 94L remain well out in the Atlantic, but we will continue monitoring these tropical waves in the days ahead.
