MORE HEAT & HUMIDITY TODAY WITH P.M. STORMS… Hot and humid conditions will continue across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be in the 94-100° range with heat index values reaching 105-112° this afternoon. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop during the P.M. hours, but it won’t rain all day and many communities will remain dry. The greatest rain chances today will happen between 4PM and 9PM, but even outside of that window, a few pop-up showers and storms will be possible.

EXCESSIVE HEAT & HUMIDITY TO PERSIST TODAY AND TOMORROW… A Heat Advisory is in effect across all 12 local counties as dangerous heat remains the main concern. Similar temperatures are expected tomorrow with highs again in the mid to upper 90s, near 100° in a few inland communities. If you are working outside, take frequent breaks, stay hydrated, and monitor for signs of heat illness. Overnight lows will only fall into the 70s inland with low to mid 80s closer to the immediate coast, offering little relief.

EVER SO SLIGHTLY “COOLER” TEMPS THIS WEEKEND… The upper ridge responsible for the ongoing excessive heat will begin to weaken late this week as a trough approaches the region. High temperatures this weekend will generally be in the low to mid 90s, although a few hotter spots may reach the upper 90s. This will NOT be a major pattern change, but temperatures should come down a few degrees compared to what is happening today and tomorrow.

POP-UP, MOSTLY P.M. STORMS TODAY AND IN THE DAYS AHEAD… Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain possible each afternoon through the end of the week. The seabreeze and leftover outflow boundaries will be the main drivers of storm development, meaning it is very difficult to pinpoint exact locations where storms will form. Rain coverage will likely increase somewhat Friday into Saturday before decreasing a bit on Sunday. Saturday currently looks like the wetter day of the weekend, but an all-day washout is not expected. Any stronger storms that develop may produce localized downpours, gusty winds, cloud-to-ground lightning, and loud thunder. Widespread severe weather is not expected today or tomorrow.

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN, ENTIRE ATLANTIC BASIN CURRENTLY QUIET… The National Hurricane Center is not monitoring any notable tropical disturbances across the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf. Tropical development is not expected anywhere across the Atlantic Basin over the next 5-7 days.
