WARM WEDNESDAY; COOLER AIR ARRIVES FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY… Warm, sunny conditions will happen across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Wednesday, but much more comfortable temperatures are on the way for the weekend. High temperatures today will be in the upper 80s to low 90s, with no rain expected. Some inland communities will reach 91-92° this afternoon. High pressure will maintain our warm, dry weather through the next few days before a cold front moves across the area Friday night. Cooler air behind the front will bring a noticeable drop in temperatures by Saturday.
NO RAIN IN THE FORECAST… Dry weather is expected today, tonight, and tomorrow, with rain chances remaining near zero through Saturday. Moisture will be quite limited ahead of Friday night’s cold front, meaning the front should pass through without much, if any, rain.
SUNNY, NICE FEW DAYS AHEAD… Plenty of sunshine is expected through Friday as high pressure keeps a dry airmass in place. High temperatures tomorrow will be in the mid 80s to low 90s, followed by 80s to near 90° Friday. Temperatures could approach daily records in parts of the region. Lows tonight will range from the upper 50s to low 70s, and patchy fog may develop overnight into tomorrow morning. The afternoon warmth remains important as recovery from Hurricane Isaias continues and some locations are still without power. Heat index values will stay close to the actual temperature, but working in prolonged sunshine can still increase the risk of heat exhaustion. Take it easy if you feel yourself getting too hot!
COOLER TEMPS THIS WEEKEND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK… Afternoon highs will fall into the low to mid 70s Saturday, followed by low to upper 70s Sunday. Much cooler, drier air will move in from the north behind the cold front that will move across the region Friday night. Lows Saturday night into Sunday morning will be in the 50s inland, with 60s closer to the coast. Most communities should remain dry through the weekend, although a small rain chance returns Sunday. Temperatures will gradually rebound early next week, with highs in the upper 70s to low 80s Monday and Tuesday. Rain chances remain low, at a 10% chance or less.
TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… The National Hurricane Center is not highlighting any areas for potential tropical development in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea over the next 7 days.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE IN ATLANTIC WILL NOT DEVELOP… Further development is no longer expected from the low pressure trough several hundred miles west-northwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. The disturbance continues to produce disorganized showers and thunderstorms, but strong upper-level winds will prevent it from organizing as it moves slowly north to north-northwest. The National Hurricane Center puts its chance of development over the next 7 days at near zero.
