COLD FRONT COMING; WINDY SATURDAY; NO GULF STORMS IN FORECAST… We have a big weather change set to happen overnight into Saturday as much cooler, drier air surges into south Alabama and northwest Florida. Sustained wind of 20-30 mph will be possible on Saturday during the daytime hours with wind gusts as high as 30-40 mph not out of the question. Some light rain will be possible over the next several hours, just ahead of the cold front. Severe storms are not expected.
The attached map highlights projected temperatures at 6AM on Saturday morning. This will be the coolest air our local area has had in several months.
NO ORGANIZED STORMS IN THE GULF OVER THE NEXT 7 DAYS, DESPITE LOTS OF BAD INFO… I have been inundated with questions due to a viral post today suggesting a similar setup to what happened with Hurricane Isaias last week. Unfortunately, the specific post I have seen is not a credible source of severe weather information, particularly considering there is currently zero evidence suggesting an additional hurricane in the Gulf in the next 7-10 days. Many, many people across our area just had the worst storm of their lives and we have people out there trying to “get people prepared” when there is zero evidence of any kind of threat at this point. Could there be a threat in the future? Of course, it’s hurricane season. There is zero evidence, as of 7:30PM Friday, October 16, 2026, of a storm in the Gulf over the next 7 days. We still have a few weeks left in hurricane season, so changes (as always) are possible. I remind everyone: You do NOT have to get your weather info from me, but make SURE you’re getting it from a reputable, credible source that has a track record of helping YOU out that is LOCAL.
COOL TEMPS STARTING TONIGHT… Low temperatures will be in the 50s tomorrow morning ahead of highs on Saturday in the upper 60s and low 70s. We’ll be in the low 50s again Saturday night into Sunday morning ahead of highs in the 70s on Sunday. Clearing skies are expected Saturday morning ahead of sunshine on Saturday afternoon and on Sunday. This will be a wonderful weather weekend.
