MORE SUNNY, NICE DAYS UPCOMING; NICE WEATHER INTO THE WEEKEND… Sunshine and comfortable fall temperatures will headline our weather across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Wednesday. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to near 80° with no rain expected today. High pressure will keep the forecast dry through the weekend, with slightly cooler afternoons on Saturday and Sunday.
HIGHS IN UPPER 70S AND NEAR 80° OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS; LOWS IN 40S… High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s tomorrow and Friday before settling into the 70s this weekend. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s in the coolest inland communities tonight and over the next several nights. Warmer locations closer to the coast will remain in the 50s and low to mid 60s. Dry air will support a considerable difference between chilly morning temperatures and the warmer afternoons. Highs will return to the upper 70s to near 80° early next week.
LOCALLY, NO RAIN IN THE FORECAST… There is no meaningful chance of rain across the local area through early next week. Moisture will remain limited as high pressure persists over the eastern United States. That high will strengthen over the Southeast Friday into Saturday, helping bring another push of dry air into our region. Rain chances remain near zero through early next week.
BEACHES: RIP CURRENTS THIS WEEKEND… One concern if you have beach plans: A High Risk of rip currents is expected at the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches from Friday night through Sunday. Increasing northeast winds may also create hazardous conditions for small boats over the Gulf Friday night into the weekend.
TROPICS: DISTURBANCE EAST OF NORTH CAROLINA & VIRGINIA IN ATLANTIC… The National Hurricane Center is monitoring INVEST 93L, a strong, non-tropical area of low pressure a few hundred miles off the North Carolina coast. The low remains attached to a front but could briefly acquire subtropical characteristics if thunderstorms become more organized near its center and the frontal features fade. NHC indicates a 40% chance of development over the next 7 days. The system is expected to move slowly north-northeastward over the Gulf Stream before accelerating northeastward away from the eastern United States by the end of the week. High winds, coastal flooding, and dangerous surf are expected along portions of the U.S. East Coast regardless of whether formal development happens.
TROPICS: GULF AND CARIBBEAN QUIET… The National Hurricane Center is not highlighting any areas for potential tropical development in the Gulf or Caribbean Sea. Hurricane season continues through November 30.
