DRY THURSDAY; RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES THIS WEEKEND… Dry weather is expected across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Thursday with partly cloudy skies this evening. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s to low 80s this afternoon. Our next meaningful chance of showers and thunderstorms arrives this weekend, with the higher rain chances expected Saturday night into Sunday. For now, severe weather parameters remain low, but I would not be surprised if we have thunderstorms around at times, particularly across inland areas, this weekend.

MAINLY SUNNY FRIDAY; A FEW SHOWERS LATE?… Tomorrow will feature another mainly dry day with high temperatures in the upper 70s to mid 80s. An upper ridge of high pressure will help keep rain chances quite low through Friday night. At this point, the chance of a late shower remains very low, meaning rain is unlikely to interfere with outdoor plans tomorrow evening, including our local high school football games. The more substantial increase in rain chances holds off until Saturday.

SCATTERED SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY INTO SATURDAY NIGHT… Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will become possible on Saturday as an upper-level trough approaches the region. Rain chances increase Saturday night, generally into the 60-70% range. High temperatures Saturday will be in the upper 70s to low 80s. If you have outdoor plans Saturday evening, keep the rain potential in mind. The timing of showers in any particular community remains uncertain. Part of the uncertainty involves whether a trough of low pressure or a surface low develops over the north central Gulf and where that feature ultimately moves. Regardless of those details, confidence is higher that our local rain chances will increase this weekend.

SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE SUNDAY, MAINLY IN MORNING… Showers and a few thunderstorms will remain possible Sunday, with rain chances generally around 50-70% during the day before dropping considerably Sunday night. The exact timing of the decrease in rain coverage still needs to be refined, so I would not count on a completely dry afternoon just yet. Sunday will be a bit cooler, with afternoon highs in the 70s across the region.

LOWER (NOT ZERO) RAIN CHANCES MONDAY… Rain chances drop substantially on Monday, although an isolated shower cannot be ruled out. Most communities will likely remain dry, with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and near 80°. Confidence in the early-week details remains lower than normal because the evolution and track of the potential Gulf low or trough are still uncertain.

SCATTERED STORMS TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY… Rain chances increase again Tuesday into Wednesday, with scattered showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms becoming possible. The current forecast favors higher rain coverage Tuesday night into Wednesday compared to Tuesday during the day. High temperatures will be in the mid 70s to low 80s Tuesday, followed by mostly mid to upper 70s Wednesday. We will be able to refine the timing as we get closer.

TROPICS: ATLANTIC BASIN QUIET… The Gulf, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no new tropical storms expected over the next 7 days.
