ISOLATED EVENING STORMS POSSIBLE; COOLER TEMPS ARRIVE TOMORROW MORNING… Today is the last opportunity for rain across the region ahead of an advancing cold front that is set to bring slightly cooler, drier air into our region that will last into the weekend and early next week. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely develop in the evening hours today. Storms will be drifting south. Widespread severe storms are not expected but cloud-to-ground lightning may be possible in the strongest of the storms. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s in most communities today.
BEAUTIFUL FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND SUNDAY WITH COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURES… The first real taste of fall happens starting tomorrow and extending into the weekend. High temperatures will be in the upper 70s tomorrow. Most of the high school football games across the region will have temperatures in the 60s on Friday evening. Overnight lows are projected to be in the 50s starting tomorrow night into early Saturday morning. The weekend looks absolutely great with highs near 80° with low humidity. Full sunshine is expected this weekend and into early next week.
TROPICS: TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN BAY OF CAMPECHE NOT GOING TO DEVELOP… A tropical disturbance located in the far southern Gulf is in the process of moving into mainland Mexico this morning. This disturbance moved across the Yucatan Peninsula and over the far southern Gulf in the Bay of Campeche region. Any chance of development into a named tropical storm has all but ended at this point as the system has “run out of water” and is moving into Mexico now.
TROPICS: TROPICAL STORM JERRY IN THE ATLANTIC… Tropical Storm Jerry continues to move northwest across the central Atlantic Ocean today. Jerry has prompted tropical storm watches and warnings for several of the northern Leeward Islands, including Antigua, Barbuda, Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, Montserrat, St. Barthelemy and St. Martin, Sint Maarten, Saba and St. Eustatius, Guadeloupe and the adjacent islands. The core of Jerry will likely move near or just northeast of these islands, potentially causing 40+ mph winds, heavy rain, and dangerous waves and rip currents. Interests in Bermuda should also monitor the progress of Jerry as the storm is expected to move north and be near or just east of Bermuda in the days ahead.
