QUITE COLD TODAY WITH HARD FREEZE AGAIN TONIGHT; MILDER TEMPS BY MIDWEEK… Cold temperatures will remain in place across south Alabama and northwest Florida throughout the day on this Monday. Afternoon high temperatures will struggle to get out of the upper 40s in most communities. Some spots in northwest Florida may briefly hit the 50 degree mark. Temperatures will plunge below freezing by 9-10PM tonight as another night with hard freeze conditions takes hold. Most communities will be in the mid 20s by daybreak Tuesday. Freeze precautions should definitely continue tonight. Fortunately, tonight should be the last night below freezing for awhile.
SCATTERED SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY… Our next chance of rain happens late Wednesday night into Thursday as another cold front approaches from the northwest. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Thursday. We do not have concerns about wintry precipitation or snow as temperatures will be pushing 70 degrees by Thursday afternoon. There have been some scenarios in the model guidance that show a potential low-end severe weather setup, but right now I suspect we’re trending more toward an event with spotty showers and general thunderstorms (below severe limits). This is something I will be monitoring over the next few days.
MILD DAYS, COLD NIGHTS THIS WEEKEND… Temperatures will be pleasant in the afternoon hours on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with afternoon highs projected to be in the 60s and 70s. Overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s across the region.
