SHOWERS AT TIMES TODAY; ISOLATED STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY… Scattered showers will be possible at times throughout the day and into this evening on this Friday. It certainly won’t rain all day, but particularly later this morning and into the afternoon hours, we may have some sprinkles and showers around. Temperatures will make a run at the 70 degree mark in many communities across the region with afternoon highs ranging from 68-72° by 3PM. Intermittent showers will continue to be possible tonight ahead of a low-end severe weather risk setting up on Saturday. While severe weather isn’t a sure thing, any thunderstorms that become strong will be capable of quickly becoming severe. More details about the low-end severe weather risk are below.

SEVERE WEATHER TIMING – SATURDAY… Showers, and perhaps a few thunderstorms, will be possible today. I do not expect widespread severe weather issues on this Friday. Intermittent, spotty showers will continue to be possible at times this evening into tonight. The overall severe weather risk will happen from 4AM to 4PM Saturday as a cold front sweeps across the region from northwest to southeast. The core time frame will be from 8AM to 2PM.

LEVEL 1 (OUT OF 5) SEVERE WEATHER RISK SATURDAY… The Storm Prediction Center has included all of northwest Florida and much of southwest Alabama in their low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid for Saturday. The low-end risk zone is in place because of the potential for a tornado or two, damaging wind gusts, and large hail in the strongest of the storms. Statistically speaking, we have at least one tornado warning across our region about 10-15% of the time we have a Level 1 risk in place. That percentage more than doubles if any part of our region is upped to a Level 2 risk. The most likely scenario is that we have scattered rain and storms at times and not much else, however, a few severe storms can’t completely be ruled out.

MILD, NICE DAYS & COOL NIGHTS EARLY NEXT WEEK… After the scattered storms clear out on Saturday evening, we’ll enter into a stretch of nice, dry days from Sunday through at least Tuesday. Afternoon highs will be near 70° by Monday with mid 70s likely by Tuesday and Wednesday.

WET, MILD PATTERN TOWARD END OF UPCOMING WEEK… Rain will be possible toward the end of the upcoming week on Thursday and Friday. It’s too early for any specifics but the overall weather pattern will be wet and generally mild. I see no signs of any freezing temperatures over the next 7-9 days.

APP… If you haven’t already downloaded the RedZone Weather app, now is a great time to do that. redzoneweather.com/app is the link to the free download. Once you have the RZW app installed on your iOS or Android device, be sure to visit the Alerts tab to turn on the specific notifications you’d like to receive. All notifications are handcrafted by me. No automation and we promise not to bug you!

See all the details in your Friday morning RedZone Weather forecast video. My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM Monday morning. We will “go live” on Saturday if tornado warnings become required for our local area. I will have updates posted throughout the weekend, as needed, in the RedZone Weather app.

Hope you have a great first weekend of 2026!
