PARTLY CLOUDY LATER TODAY; RAIN & STORMS LIKELY THURSDAY… Mostly sunny skies this morning will give way to partly cloudy skies later today – a sign of what’s ahead for the remainder of the week. Severe storms will be possible in areas to our north and west tomorrow during the daytime hours. Our local area will likely remain dry for much of the day on Wednesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms become likely locally as we get into Thursday. A low-end severe weather risk will likely exist for much of the day on Thursday. If you have weekend plans, be aware that scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible Friday, Saturday, into Sunday. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the low 80s today.
SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE TO OUR NORTH TOMORROW… The Storm Prediction Center continues to define a Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk for much of west Alabama, central Mississippi, southern Arkansas, northern Louisiana, and east Texas valid for tomorrow (Wednesday, May 6, 2026). Damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a few tornadoes will be possible. This Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk includes Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Demopolis, Cullman, Clanton, Decatur, Hamilton, Aliceville, Livingston, Jasper, and surrounding areas. Jackson (MS), Columbus (MS), Vicksburg (MS), Monroe (LA), Shreveport (LA) are also included. Severe storms will be possible at times throughout the day in these zones, although it looks like a focus in the afternoon and evening hours may happen.
SPOTTY SHOWERS LOCALLY TOMORROW… The daytime hours of Wednesday will likely be mostly dry across south Alabama and northwest Florida. While parts of Washington, Clarke, Monroe, Conecuh, Butler, and northern Mobile counties technically are involved in the low-end, Level 1 (out of 5) severe weather risk zone, parameters do not appear supportive for severe storms in these counties during the daytime hours of Wednesday. Scattered strong storms may become possible tomorrow night into Thursday, however.
LOW-END SEVERE WEATHER RISK LOCALLY THURSDAY; RAIN LIKELY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible on Thursday throughout the day across the local area. New rain amounts of 1-2″ are likely region wide.
UNSETTLED PATTERN TO CONTINUE FRIDAY, SATURDAY, INTO SUNDAY… Multiple waves of scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible through Sunday. If you have outdoor plans this weekend, I would have an indoor backup plan as spotty showers and storms will be possible each day. Afternoon highs this weekend will be in the low 80s.
