MOSTLY CLOUDY MONDAY; A FEW POP-UP STORMS… Clouds will persist for much of the day across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Monday. Afternoon high temperatures will range from the mid 80s north of US84 to the upper 80s and maybe even a brief stint of 90 degree temperatures this afternoon near I-10 and closer to the coast. A few widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day with a greater focus for a few, pop-up storms this afternoon into this evening. Most communities will likely remain dry for much of the day.
SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES LATER THIS WEEK… Tomorrow and Wednesday will be quite similar to today with low-end, spotty rain chances across the region. Widespread severe weather is not expected locally through midweek, but any pop-up thunderstorms that develop will be capable of producing cloud-to-ground lightning, loud thunder, and heavy pockets of rain. High temperatures will be in the low 90s in many communities tomorrow and Wednesday.
SCATTERED STORMS EXPECTED THIS WEEKEND… Rain coverage is expected to increase somewhat later this week and into the upcoming weekend. It probably will not rain all day on Saturday or on Sunday but we will likely have an increased amount of showers and thunderstorms around. High temperatures are expected to be in the low 90s this weekend with morning lows in the low 70s.
TROPICS: ATLANTIC BASIN QUIET; ACTIVE PACIFIC… The Gulf, Caribbean, and Atlantic remain quiet with no tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. The climatological peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season happens in mid-September. Tropical Storm Amanda in the eastern Pacific remains well away from land areas. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for parts of the southern (Pacific) coast of Mexico due to the formation of Tropical Depression Two-E that is expected to briefly become a tropical storm before landfall today.
