WARMER WEATHER COMING NEXT WEEK… After an extended duration of abnormally cold conditions across much of the Deep South, a pattern flip coming next week will bring a prolonged period of milder/warmer weather. Before we get there, we have one more night (tonight) with near/below freezing temperatures. Overnight lows will range from 27° inland to 34° near the coast. Highs tomorrow will be 10-12 degrees warmer than today with most spots topping out in the upper 60s. Saturday night into Sunday may be cold, potentially with lows near the freezing mark. We’ll be in the 70s early next week with a warmer pattern locked in for several days. Highs will be in the 70s with lows in the 50s next week.

PROLONGED COLD WEATHER PATTERNS ARE NOT THE NORM AROUND HERE… It is so often the case in winter around here that after a cold spell, we have a warmer pattern. Our local weather pattern never “gets cold and stays cold” due to our low latitude. Our winters, compared to our friends further north, are mild in nature usually. This winter and last winter have featured some of the coldest temperatures we have seen in back-to-back years this century. It most certainly is not the norm!

WARMER TEMPS NEXT WEEK… Have a look at the high temperatures over the next 7 days – all steadily increasing! We’ll be in the mid to upper 70s in the afternoon hours next week. NICE weather this weekend too.

COLD TEMPS TODAY; TEMPS NEAR OR BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT; MILDER THIS WEEKEND… Keep the jackets handy on this Thursday as afternoon highs will be in the 40s inland with low 50s likely closer to the Alabama and northwest Florida beaches. Winter temperatures return today, tonight, and into Friday ahead of a warm up slated to happen this weekend. Warmer temperatures are on the way for next week. Dry conditions will happen through the weekend and into Monday and Tuesday.

OVERNIGHT LOWS BELOW FREEZING TONIGHT… Temperatures will range from the upper 20s across inland areas of southwest Alabama tonight to the low to mid 30s closer to the coast. That means that most communities will be near or just below the freezing mark tonight. Clear skies are expected overnight. Tonight will be the last night with widespread freezing temperatures for awhile.

MILDER TEMPS FOR THE WEEKEND… Afternoon highs will be in the 60s on Friday. Upper 60s are expected Saturday afternoon. Most communities across south Alabama and northwest Florida will be flirting with the 70 degree mark by Sunday.

WARMER AFTERNOONS NEXT WEEK… Some of the warmest weather our area has had in quite some time will happen next week. Afternoon highs on Monday will be in the mid 70s. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday will be in the upper 70s. Overnight lows are generally expected to be in the 50s. Partly cloudy skies are expected early next week.
