NICE WEDNESDAY; STORMS RETURN FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Skies will gradually become mostly sunny on this Wednesday as clouds continue to clear to the east of south Alabama and northwest Florida. High temperatures will be in the mid- to upper-80s today. Our next significant chance of rain and thunderstorms will happen on Friday and Saturday.

RAIN & STORMS LIKELY AT TIMES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms are likely on Friday and Saturday. There is a chance for a few strong to severe storms on Friday and perhaps on Saturday as well. The Storm Prediction Center has included parts of Louisiana and southern Mississippi in their Level 2 (out of 5) severe weather risk valid on Friday. We will see if there is an expansion of the risk zone into our area on Friday or Saturday. That is a possibility.

FLASH FLOODING CONCERNS INLAND FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY… In addition to the possibility of a few strong to severe storms later this week and into the weekend, widespread rain totals of 1-2″ of rain are likely with isolated higher amounts. The soil across our region is now fairly saturated after multiple rounds of rain and storms over the last several days. This means that the potential exists for flash flooding across the region. Be aware of the potential for flash flooding as we go into the weekend.

SCATTERED STORMS POSSIBLE THIS AFTERNOON; DRIER WEATHER WEDNESDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will likely pop up this afternoon across parts of south Alabama and northwest Florida. After heavy rain at times overnight and numerous, loud thunderstorms, today we get a break from the more organized masses of storms that we have endured twice in the last 2 days. Pop-up, scattered storms will be most likely to develop later this morning and into the afternoon hours. Isolated storms may develop in the evening as well. All of this activity is expected to ultimately fade away after sunset. The overall risk of any of the stronger storms becoming severe is LOW, but not entirely zero. I will have updates posted later today, as needed, in the RedZone Weather app.

DRIER WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY MORNING… Tomorrow is expected to be mostly sunny with high temperatures in the upper-80s. No rain is expected on Wednesday. Thursday morning is also likely to be dry. Our next rain chance (after today) happens on Thursday, primarily in the late evening hours, ahead of high rain chances on Friday.

HEAVY RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES FRIDAY AND SATURDAY… Our next organized round of potentially heavy rain and thunderstorms will happen on Friday into Saturday. It looks like the greatest risk of strong to severe storms AND heavy rainfall that could lead to flash flooding will happen across inland areas of southwest Alabama. I will be monitoring details on this next round of active weather and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app. High temperatures on Friday and into the weekend will be in the 80s with morning lows in the 60s.
