ISOLATED SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING; DRY WEATHER TONIGHT AND IN DAYS AHEAD… Lingering rain will exit to the east of south Alabama and northwest Florida over the next several hours. Rain chances won’t drop to zero, however, as a few widely scattered showers may be possible this afternoon into the evening hours. Most of us will begin to dry out this evening but I can’t rule out a few pop-up showers in the 2PM to 7PM range. After that, dry conditions are here to stay for quite awhile. High temperatures will range from the upper 70s further inland to the mid 80s near Interstate 10. Most locales will have temperatures topping out in the low 80s.

DROUGHT UPDATE… While the local area remains involved in an extreme drought zone, I expect improvements in the next publication from the U.S. Drought Monitor. Their next release will happen on Thursday by the afternoon hours. Much of the region remains involved in a Level 3 (out of 4) extreme drought zone. Due to the widespread 3-7″ rain totals across the region since the first of the month, improvements in the Drought Monitor seem likely.

NICE WEATHER FOR WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY… Ample sunshine is expected for Wednesday and Thursday. Afternoon highs will be in the low to mid 80s each day with morning lows in the mid to upper 50s.

WEEKEND IS LIKELY TO FEATURE NICE WEATHER… The big weather headline for our local area during the upcoming weekend will be the warmer temperatures. Highs will be in the upper 80s and there is an off chance that some communities briefly hit the 90 degree mark on Saturday. Mostly sunny conditions seem likely for Friday and into the upcoming weekend.
