POP-UP STORMS THIS EVENING; SLIGHTLY LOWER RAIN CHANCES WEDNESDAY… Scattered thunderstorms will dot the landscape across south Alabama and northwest Florida this afternoon into this evening. Not every community will have rain before the end of the day, but where storms happen, expect downpours. Just like what happened yesterday, this will be a situation where your specific location may get 1-1.5″ of rain in an hour whereas your friend or neighbor 2 miles away may not get any rain at all. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s with heat index values expected to be in the 100-105° range this afternoon.
LOWER-END RAIN CHANCES TOMORROW, THURSDAY, & FRIDAY… An upper ridge of high pressure is expected to lower rain chances slightly in the days ahead. Rain chances will be in the 20-30% chance range tomorrow through Friday. Spotty showers and thunderstorms will continue to be possible, mostly in the afternoon and evening hours. High temperatures will continue to be in the low to mid 90s with morning lows in the 70s over the next few days.
SLIGHTLY HIGHER RAIN CHANCES THIS WEEKEND… Scattered storms will increase in coverage on Saturday and on Sunday. I am not expecting an all day washout but we will have more in the way of pop-up showers and thunderstorms around this weekend. High temperatures will be around the 90 degree mark with some spots further inland likely to be in the upper 80s.
TROPICS REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean remain quiet with no tropical storms expected to form over the next 5-7 days. The climatological peak of the Atlantic Hurricane Season happens in mid-September. Hurricane season will end on November 30.
