CONSISTENT, SUNNY FORECAST… No real change to the forecast logic in the days ahead: We will have sunny, hot days into the weekend with high temperatures in the 90s. Morning lows will be in the 60s. No substantial rain in sight, unfortunately.

MAINLY SUNNY, DRY TUESDAY… Mostly sunny, nice weather is set to continue across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday. High temperatures will be quite similar to yesterday with most locales peaking in the upper 80s and low 90s. While one or two sprinkles and showers cannot be completely ruled out over west Alabama, just like yesterday, nearly all of us across the region will remain dry for the foreseeable future. The upcoming weekend looks dry as well. High temperatures will consistently be in the 90s over the next few days with morning lows in the 60s.

TROPICS: GULF & CARIBBEAN REMAIN QUIET… The Gulf and Caribbean Sea are expected to remain quiet over the next 5-7 days. We continue to be immensely thankful the climatological peak of the hurricane season has been remarkably quiet in the Gulf and Caribbean so far.

TROPICS: TROPICAL WAVE IN ATLANTIC… A tropical wave located about halfway between the west coast of Africa and the Lesser Antilles continues to move westward. This system has an 80% chance of becoming a named tropical storm in the days ahead as the system begins to move northwest. Most of the model guidance continues to highlight a projected path recurving in the Atlantic Ocean with the system remaining well to the east of North America. This would be a “best case scenario” IF this pans out, but it is too early to say conclusively this will be what happens. I will have updates posted in the days ahead in the RedZone Weather app.

REMEMBERING HURRICANES IVAN AND SALLY… Today is the anniversary of the landfall of Hurricane Ivan that roared ashore near Gulf Shores, Alabama in 2004 at category 3 intensity. Sixteen years later, almost to the hour, Hurricane Sally moved ashore near the exact same location as a category 2 hurricane. We remember all the lives lost during the storms and all of the damage that happened. Today is the 21st anniversary of the Ivan landfall and the 5th anniversary of the Sally landfall. Two storms we won’t forget!

MAINLY DRY AGAIN TODAY… Nearly all of us, just like yesterday, will remain dry on this Tuesday. Can’t completely rule out some sprinkles over west Alabama, specifically, later today. High temperatures will be in the low 90s.

Have a great Tuesday!
