COLD AIR RETURNS LATER THIS WEEK… Significantly colder air will be in place across south Alabama and northwest Florida this weekend. Considerable questions remain as to WHEN a warm up starts next week, perhaps just in time for Christmas Day.
Cold front passage tomorrow!
MAINLY SUNNY & MILD TUESDAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY… Patchy areas of dense fog this morning will burn off by 11AM across the region. Skies will be mostly sunny throughout the day with high temperatures reaching the mid 70s by 3PM. Today will be a dry day ahead of a chance of showers tomorrow into tomorrow night. Wednesday is expected to be the last warm day until next week. Much colder air arrives tomorrow night ahead of highs in the 50s this weekend. Lots of questions persist about the forecast for Christmas Day with early indications continuing to point to a warming trend by the latter half of the upcoming week.
DENSE FOG AROUND THIS MORNING… Not every community has fog in place this morning but there are areas of dense fog in some spots across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday morning. Take it slow and easy if you’re driving over the next few hours. Fog will likely burn off by 11AM across the entire region.
MILD AGAIN TOMORROW; A FEW SHOWERS AHEAD OF COLD FRONT… Tomorrow will be the last warm day until at least next week with high temperatures projected to be in the mid 70s by 3PM Wednesday. Isolated showers will be possible on Wednesday, particularly across inland communities closer to the U.S. Highway 84 corridor. I expect MOST locations across the region to remain completely dry through tomorrow night but a few spots may pick up some rainfall. The projected total rainfall amounts are less than a quarter of one inch.
A BIT COOLER ON THURSDAY & FRIDAY… Full sunshine returns on Thursday and Friday with highs expected to be in the 60s. Overnight lows will be around the 40 degree mark Thursday night into early Friday morning. Friday night into Saturday morning will be about ten degrees colder with most spots in the 29-32° range by 6AM on Saturday.
COOL DAYS, COLD NIGHTS THIS WEEKEND… This weekend will really feel like winter! High temperatures will be in the low to mid 50s with morning lows at or just below the freezing mark. Full sunshine is expected on both Saturday and Sunday.
WARMING TREND AROUND CHRISTMAS DAY… The cool down coming for the latter part of THIS week and into the weekend may not last to Christmas Day. While we are still 8 days out, confidence is increasing that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day may have high temperatures in the 60s across south Alabama and northwest Florida. There also are preliminary indications that we may have rain around on Christmas Day or perhaps the day after Christmas. Too early for any specifics at this point, but the probability of very cold air being in place on Christmas Day locally looks quite low.
