FEW SHOWERS NOW; SUNNY LATER TODAY… Several small, isolated showers are happening across south Alabama and northwest Florida on this Tuesday morning. Showers will clear out over the next few hours, clouds clear out between 1-3PM and we will likely have a sunny end to the day. High temperatures peak around 71° in most spots. We’ve got a slew of nice, warm days ahead before storms return for Saturday. Some of those storms could be on the strong side as our next cold front moves through. Let’s talk details…
WARMER, SUNNY DAYS AHEAD… No weather issues are expected Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Temperatures peak on Wednesday around 75°, but we return to the low-80s for both Thursday and Friday. Clouds will start increasing late in the day on Friday ahead of “our next weathermaker” set to move through on Saturday.
STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE SATURDAY… The Storm Prediction Center continues to maintain areas to our west in their Level 2 “slight” risk for Friday. This same system that will produce storms to our west on Friday will move across Alabama and northwest Florida on Saturday. Isolated severe storms will be possible, including at least some risk of tornadoes and/or damaging straight line winds. Details and specifics remain sparse for now, but as we get closer to the potential severe weather event, we’ll have more details. The big point I would stress is that Saturday has the potential to be QUITE wet, with 1-2” of rain becoming possible. It’s too early to say definitively whether you should change outdoor plans, but I would *definitely* have an indoor backup ready.
LINGERING SHOWERS SUNDAY… Sunday will likely be a transition day as we move from rain/storms to clearing skies by the end of the day. Temperatures will be noticeably cooler on Sunday and Monday. Highs on Monday may struggle to hit 70° in most spots across our region.
I’ll have plenty of updates here in the RedZone Weather app over the next few days as we look ahead to our potential severe weather risk on Saturday.
