TROPICAL DISTURBANCE IN WESTERN CARIBBEAN… The National Hurricane Center says there is a 20-30% chance of tropical storm formation over the next 5 days as an area of low pressure moves northward across the western Caribbean Sea. It is too early to determine exactly where this system will end up, regardless of if formal development occurs. Some models bring the system northward into the Gulf of Mexico, while others show the low pressure area moving northeast across Cuba and through The Bahamas next week. The big takeaway is that hurricane season is definitely not over and we must remain diligent in watching these systems!
FEW STORMS THIS AFTERNOON… Most of us across south Alabama and northwest Florida will be dry today, but there is a small (20%) chance of a rogue shower or storm developing before the end of the day. High temperatures will again be around the 90 degree mark.
DRIER THURSDAY & FRIDAY… We keep rain chances low for Thursday and near zero for Friday as a big ridge of high pressure builds in from the north in the coming days. Plenty of sunshine is expected on Friday and there’s a very high chance that all high school football games will be dry this week! We’ll have a more refined forecast tomorrow and on Friday for the games.
RAIN CHANCES INCREASE STARTING SATURDAY… The ridge of high pressure keeping us dry for the next few days begins to break down on Saturday, meaning rain chances will rise Saturday through Columbus Day Monday. High temperatures are expected to remain well above our seasonal norms — near 90 over the next few days with morning lows in the upper-60s.
