MUCH COOLER TODAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE… Now that a cold front has pushed across much of our region, cooler, drier, more stable air is filtering in from the northwest. High temperatures today will struggle to hit 80° in most spots across west Alabama. There is good news to report in that the area of disturbed weather in the Caribbean Sea is now on land in central America and will NOT be developing into a tropical storm. Let’s look at details…
COOLER AIR: ROUND #1… The cool, dry, stable air moving into the western part of our local area today will be the first in two round of cold air over the next few days. While there could be a few small showers around today, there’s a high chance most of us will be dry throughout the day. Another cold front is slated to move by on Saturday. There could be numerous showers and thunderstorms associated with the frontal passage that happens Saturday afternoon and evening. High temperatures by Monday will drop to near 70° in most spots, with overnight lows in the 50s coming up next week.
TROPICS ARE *QUIET*… The National Hurricane Center notes that the area of disturbed weather in the far western part of the Caribbean Sea has moved onshore near Belize. This system won’t develop into a tropical storm in the Atlantic basin. The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are now COMPLETELY quiet with tropical storm formation not expected in the next 5 days. Great news!!
