COOL, SUNNY SUNDAY… Some spots across south Alabama and northwest Florida will struggle to hit the 70 degree mark this afternoon as cool, dry air has taken hold of our weather pattern following the passage of a cold front on Saturday. High temperatures will be in the 68-70 range in most spots. No rain is expected locally or across the Deep South today. I normally produce a Sunday afternoon/evening video each week, but today is an exception since I’m headed to the Florida Panhandle to do some Hurricane Michael damage assessments. I’ll have exclusive photos for you in the days ahead.
COLD START ON MONDAY… Overnight lows by 6AM Monday could easily be in the low-40s across much of our region. This will be some of the coldest air so far this season for our area. We won’t be in the 40s for long, but it’s going to be chilly for sure for several hours on Monday morning between 2AM-8AM. I wouldn’t be shocked to see some areas in the northern part of Alabama near Huntsville, Muscle Shoals, and Decatur fall below freezing briefly on Monday morning!
FEW SHOWERS BY TUESDAY MORNING… Monday will be mainly dry with a high temperature in the mid-70s. There could be a shower as early as 7PM Monday evening, but most spots across our region will remain dry through midnight. At this point, showers and thunderstorms seem increasingly likely on Tuesday morning across our region. No way to know exactly when or where these scattered showers will develop, but I would keep the rain gear handy if you have to be on the go on Tuesday morning.
STORMS BY END OF WEEK… There are some preliminary indications that we could have a round of thunderstorms that moves by on Friday into Saturday that could potentially be on the strong side. It’s way too early to say whether severe weather will be a concern. Something to monitor… Check back with me throughout the week for updates.
TROPICS QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Atlantic Ocean are quiet with no tropical storm formation expected over the next 5-7 days. Good news!
See all the details in this Sunday #rzw forecast video… Have a great day!
