COOL THANKSGIVING DAY, MORE RAIN ON FRIDAY… Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at RedZone Weather! I hope you and your family/friends have a wonderful day. Skies will remain mostly sunny throughout the day on this Thanksgiving Day. We’re looking ahead to the rain that will move in midday on Friday. There could be a few thunderstorms involved, especially near our local beaches. Here are the details…
DRIER FOR THE FIRST HALF OF BLACK FRIDAY… We’re in somewhat of a roller coaster of rain chances over the next few days. We trend drier across south Alabama and northwest Florida later today and for the first half of Black Friday. I would keep the rain gear handy just in case there is a rogue shower around late in the morning hours of Friday. Rain will spread into our local area from west to east during the evening hours of Friday. I expect the rain to move out by Saturday midday.
SEVERE WEATHER UPDATE… As we’ve been advertising this week, severe weather chances Friday into Saturday remain very low. Why is this? An area of low pressure will skirt by our area just to the south. This means that the low will remain over the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico, thus keeping the warm sector south of the accompanying warm front offshore. I do think there is a high chance that we could see strong to severe thunderstorms just offshore late Friday into early Saturday. Once the storms cross the warm front, they will quickly weaken as they approach the coast. If any severe weather issues become possible, that would likely happen near the immediate beaches of our northwest Florida counties, although at this time that seems unlikely.
IRON BOWL FORECAST… If you are headed to Tuscaloosa to watch the Auburn Tigers take on the Alabama Crimson Tide in one of college football’s most storied rivalries, I have a better weather forecast for you! Rain will likely be to the east of Tuscaloosa by the kickoff at 2:30PM. In fact, there’s a good chance we’ll have partly sunny skies for the game with temperatures near 60. Rain will have moved out early in the morning hours, meaning tailgating could feature muddy/wet ground conditions.
MORE RAIN BY SUNDAY… Another area of low pressure will move by on Sunday, bringing another significant rain chance to the area. For now, severe weather parameters remain low, although this is yet another system we will need to closely monitor in the next few days.
NEXT VIDEO… I’ll have weather updates as needed today and on Black Friday in the RedZone Weather app. If I see that severe weather parameters become higher for Friday evening, we will produce a special edition video. Otherwise, my next video will be posted by Sunday evening.
Let me know if you have any questions. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
