SUNSHINE RETURNS TODAY; RAIN BY LATE THURSDAY… Sunshine returns today across south Alabama and northwest Florida as temperatures ease up into the 50s this afternoon. We’re looking ahead to Thursday evening when our next weathermaker will happen, meaning showers and perhaps a few thunderstorms could rumble through our area. Let’s talk details…

CLOUDS MOVE OUT TODAY… Skies will gradually clear from west to east on this Monday across our region as an area of low pressure moves away well to our northeast. Most spots likely won’t crack the 60 degree mark this afternoon, with most of us ending up in the mid- to upper-50s this afternoon. Clouds will increase yet again on Wednesday into Thursday ahead of increased rain chances on Thursday night.

RAIN & STORMS ON THURSDAY EVENING… Severe weather parameters don’t look particularly impressive as the next chance of thunderstorms arrive on Thursday evening. Just like the last few rounds of rain/storms that have moved through our area over the last few weeks, atmospheric instability will be the limiting factor for these storms. There will be plenty of shear and plenty of moisture for the storms to work with, but the good news is CAPE values will be limited. This will work against any storms that try to get terribly strong. The overall tornado risk will likely be near zero for inland areas and very low for coastal areas. We’ll continue to monitor this developing system and bring you the latest in the RedZone Weather app over the next 72 hours.

PARTLY CLOUDY WEEKEND AHEAD… Better weather is in store for the weekend around our region. High temperatures will be in the 60s with morning lows in the 40s under partly cloudy skies.
