NO SNOW IN THE FORECAST; RAIN RETURNS LATE THURSDAY… Ample sunshine is expected on this Tuesday with high temperatures pretty much in line with where we should be this time of year per our climatological norms. Most spots will be around 57 this afternoon. Unlike yesterday, when clouds decided to hang out a bit longer than the forecast called for, MOST spots today should have quite a bit more sunshine. We’ve got one more sunny day upcoming for Wednesday before clouds move in Thursday. Rain chances will rise during the late evening hours of Thursday ahead of a potentially wet weekend. We’re also looking ahead to next week when significantly cooler air will move into our area. Let’s focus on the details…
MAINLY SUNNY TODAY & WEDNESDAY; QUITE COOL… Monday was quite the busted forecast across the area with low clouds keeping temperatures in the 40s for much of the day. Today will feature slightly warmer temperatures due to more sunshine throughout the day. I’m also expecting a nice, sunny Wednesday before rain chances rise late in the day on Thursday.
RAIN LIKELY LATE THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY… Temperatures will increase on Thursday into Friday as winds shift from out of the south, ushering in warmer, moist air from the Gulf of Mexico. A few showers are possible as early as Thursday afternoon across coastal areas before rain becomes more likely across the region Thursday night into Friday. It’s important to note that we are NOT expecting snow or mixed precipitation at any point over the next 5 days. This will be a rain event that could see a few embedded thunderstorms by Saturday.
WET SATURDAY & DRIER ON SUNDAY… Temperatures will remain above average on Saturday, peaking around the 70 degree mark in the afternoon hours. There will be scattered showers and maybe a few thunderstorms around. No severe weather is expected due to lack of atmospheric instability. Rain will likely clear out to the east by Sunday morning, meaning much of the day Sunday should be dry and increasingly COLD.
COLD SNAP FOR EARLY NEXT WEEK… Bitterly cold, Arctic air will move into our area on Sunday, setting the stage for what will be the coldest snap of this winter thus far. Overnight lows on Monday and Tuesday of the upcoming week will be in the 20s and 30s. We’ll be able to get much more specific over the next few days. Please be aware that this will be a cold air mass that will potentially prompt Hard Freeze Warnings across the area.
