SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE TODAY; DRIER WEATHER WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY…7 Showers and thunderstorms will be possible this morning across the region before drier air starts filtering in later today into tonight. Our wet, unsettled pattern goes “on hold” until Thursday evening. That is when more showers and thunderstorms will return to our area from the west. More showers and thunderstorms are likely into the weekend. We note that strong to severe thunderstorms may become a possibility on Sunday across the area, although details are still coming into focus. Let’s look at a few headlines…

SHOWERS & STORMS MOVE OUT LATER TODAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely this morning into the early afternoon hours before storms move out to the east later today as an upper-level low pressure area shifts to the east. High temperatures will be around the 80 degree mark in most spots. Clouds should move out late this evening.

SUNNY ON WEDNESDAY & THURSDAY… Warm, nice, sunny days are expected for Wednesday and Thursday with high temperatures in the mid-80s. If you happen to be headed to one of our local beaches midweek, conditions will be picture perfect. Water temperatures are in the upper-60s and near 70° in the northern Gulf of Mexico.

SHOWERS THURSDAY NIGHT… Our next “weathermaker” approaches Thursday evening when a few rain showers may return to west Alabama. Rain chances rise on Friday and into the weekend as another area of low pressure approaches from the west.

STORMS THIS WEEKEND… The Storm Prediction Center continues to suggest that strong to severe storms will be possible across parts of the Deep South on Saturday into Sunday. The verbiage in the SPC extended outlooks continues to be a bit concerning, mentioning the possibility of a “significant severe weather event.” It’s too early to pinpoint details and there is still a chance we may have little to no issues this weekend, but we all need to be aware of the potential of severe weather as we go into Sunday. We are in peak tornado season around our region and systems like the one moving through this weekend must be diligently monitored. Plenty of updates will be available in the RedZone Weather app over the next few days.

See all the details in your Tuesday #rzw forecast video… Have a great day!
