STORMY NIGHT ACROSS WEST ALABAMA… Heavy rain continues to fall across much of west Alabama as we get set to go into early Saturday morning. The strongest thunderstorms at the moment are happening across Washington County near Chatom, Fruitdale, and St. Stephens. Light to moderate rain with occasional thunder and lightning is happening across much of Clarke County.

FEW STORMS IN NORTHWEST FLORIDA… Isolated small thunderstorms have also fired up across southern Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties in northwest Florida. These storms are producing occasional lightning, but they remain well below severe limits.

WHAT TO EXPECT – OVERNIGHT… Intermittent rain and thunderstorms will be possible across the entirety of south Alabama and northwest Florida through Saturday morning. We’ll watch this batch of rain and storms over west Alabama progressively move eastward. I wouldn’t be shocked to see more showers and storms pop up out ahead of the main complex of storms. Widespread severe weather remains unlikely. If we happen to have any warnings, we’ll bring you those in the RedZone Weather app.

TORNADO RISK VERY LOW… The overall risk of a tornado remains very low, if not zero, in most spots. Any storms that are able to ramp up to severe levels will feature more of a damaging wind concern, most likely. Again, I’ll be watching radar trends occasionally overnight.

My next long-form forecast update will be posted by 7:15AM on Saturday morning. See you then!
