SCATTERED RAIN & STORMS TODAY; MORE RAIN SUNDAY AND MONDAY… Keep the rain gear close by and have a way to check the radar throughout the day as scattered to numerous thunderstorms will be possible throughout the day on this Saturday. Temperatures will peak in the mid-80s by 3PM. While I am not expecting widespread severe weather, just like the last few days, a rogue stronger storm or two cannot be ruled out completely. We note the overall tornado risk remains very low. The bigger concern in the stronger storms will be the damaging wind gusts that could happen. I’ll have updates for you throughout the day in the RedZone Weather app. Let’s talk about a few more forecast details…
OUTDOOR PLANS THIS AFTERNOON? HAVE AN INDOOR BACKUP… It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly where storms will fire up this afternoon and this evening, although based on the latest high-resolution model guidance, there will almost certainly be some storms in progress across our region in the 1PM to 6PM timeframe. If you’re planning an outdoor event, make sure you have an indoor backup ready just in case you happen to be under one of the heavier showers/storms. The overall rain chance for any given point across south Alabama and northwest Florida is around 70%.
MORE STORMS ON SUNDAY… Rain chances remain elevated (60-70%) on Sunday. Models have trended drier, but only just a little bit, meaning we still will likely have scattered thunderstorms around in the morning, afternoon, and into the evening hours. High temperatures will again be in the mid-80s across the region.
WET START TO THE UPCOMING WEEK… Monday and Tuesday will likely feature more scattered thunderstorms, although we note that rain chances will decrease somewhat for Tuesday as the large area of low pressure begins to move away from the Deep South.
DRIER & WARMER WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY… Other than a few passing clouds, much nicer weather is upcoming for the latter half of the week. High temperatures will rise into the upper-80s by Wednesday and Thursday under partly cloudy skies.
TROPICS ARE QUIET… The Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and tropical Atlantic remain quiet. The National Hurricane Center says tropical storm formation is not expected over the next 5 to 7 days.
