180MPH MONSTER – CAT. 5 HURRICANE DORIAN… Hurricane Dorian was declared a category 5 hurricane earlier this morning, but the storm has not stopped strengthening yet. Maximum sustained winds are now at 180 mph as of the 11AM advisory. Minimum central pressure is down to 913 millibars, making Dorian one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded in the Atlantic basin. It should be noted that more strengthening may be happening as the most recent recon observation likely observed a 910 millibar pressure reading.
CATASTROPHIC DAMAGE POSSIBLE IN THE NORTHERN BAHAMAS… Dorian is “bombing out” at the worst possible time. The northern islands of The Bahamas will likely be forever changed by this monster storm with catastrophic impacts likely.
No impacts from Hurricane Dorian are expected in south Alabama or northwest Florida.
