HURRICANE WARNING ISSUED FOR FLORIDA ATLANTIC COAST… Hurricane Dorian is absolutely lashing the northern Bahamas with 185+ mph winds. The category 5 hurricane is probably at peak intensity as of 4:15PM CDT. Minimum central pressure is down to 910 millibars. Further strengthening and/or fluctuations in strength will be possible over the next 48 hours.
Catastrophic damage is happening in parts of the Abaco Islands on the north side of The Bahamas. We note that a Hurricane Warning has just been issued for parts of the Florida Atlantic coast from Jupiter Inlet to the Volusia/Brevard County Line. Hurricane Watches are also in effect for parts of the Florida coast north and south of the warning area.
No direct local impacts from Hurricane Dorian are expected in south Alabama or northwest Florida.
