NICE MONDAY; SHOWERS & STORMS TONIGHT INTO TUESDAY… Clouds will progressively increase in number today across south Alabama and northwest Florida ahead of significant rain chances upcoming for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There is a low-end chance of a few stronger storms near the immediate coast on Tuesday. We also are looking ahead to a much cooler, drier weekend when high temperatures will be in the 60s. Let’s look at your forecast details.
LOW-END RISK OF A FEW STRONG STORMS NEAR COAST TUESDAY… Tuesday will be wet across the region. I expect most spots to pick up at least half an inch of rain Tuesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the region throughout the day. The greater chance of thunderstorms will happen closer to the immediate coast where instability values will be greater compared to inland areas. There is a very low risk of isolated strong storms at the immediate beaches. I don’t expect any severe weather issues inland on Tuesday, however.
MORE RAIN POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY… Showers will again be possible Wednesday morning with a few thunderstorms becoming possible Wednesday afternoon. Not everyone will have rain on Wednesday, but no doubt that some will. We’ll call it a 60-70% chance of storms during the daytime hours.
STRONG STORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY… There is a chance we could have a few strong to potentially severe thunderstorms move by on Thursday, probably in the late morning or early afternoon hours. The main risk, as of now, appears to be a squall line capable of producing gusty winds and potentially a few brief, spin-up tornadoes. We’ll fine tune the details in the days ahead. Please check back with me later this week for the very latest.
NICE, COOL WEEKEND UPCOMING… After the passage of the cold front late on Thursday, rain will clear out by Thursday evening. Cooler, drier, stable air will filter in from the northwest, setting the stage for a gorgeous, sunny weekend across our region. High temperatures on Friday will peak in the mid- to upper-60s with overnight lows on Saturday morning likely to be in the mid-40s. Calm weather conditions are expected Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
