COLD BLAST FOR THE DEEP SOUTH NEXT WEEK… Confidence is growing that cold temperatures are coming to Alabama and northwest Florida by the end of next week. Our next cold front is slated to move by late on Thursday, bringing high temperatures down into the low-60s for afternoon highs this weekend. Another, stronger reinforcing shot of cold air will move in around Thursday of the upcoming week. This could knock down high temperatures into the 50s with overnight lows being in the upper-20s and 30s by the time we get to the next weekend.
ALL SIGNALS POINT TO COLD TEMPS… Long time viewers and readers know I really don’t like to advertise weather forecast ideas beyond 7 days out because of the lack of reliability of data in that time range. We have a plethora of signals pointing to this potential, however, thus confidence is higher than usual. The graphic attached is the Climate Prediction Center’s 6-10 Day Outlook highlighting this potential. We note that the GFS and ECMWF major weather models also show these much cooler temps at the end of next week.
SNOW? NOT THIS TIME… While cooler temps are expected at the end of next week, I see nothing in the model data for the foreseeable future that would suggest any potential for snow or mixed precipitation. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to know whether snow will ever become possible locally during the upcoming winter season. Nobody, and I truly mean nobody can know weather details beyond 10 days out. I’ll certainly keep watching trends and bring you the latest info as we know more.
My next forecast video will be posted by 7:15AM on Wednesday morning. See you then!
