STRONG STORMS ACROSS COVINGTON COUNTY… Thunderstorms continue to produce quite a bit of lightning and loud thunder across the northern half of Covington County. Very heavy rain is happening as of 3AM near Andalusia, Straughn, Opp, Horn Hill, Babbie, Sanford, Gantt, Heath, Red Level, River Falls, Onycha, and Rose Hill. Lightning has been intense at times.

These storms, while quite strong, are not severe. Winds of 58+ mph, hail over 1 inch in diameter, or a tornado are the three qualifiers for a storm to be classified as severe. Right now, no storms are severe across our area. Loud? YES. Heavy rain? Yes. But not quite severe, which is a good thing.

Storms across our region will continue moving northeast over the next few hours.
