CLOUDS INCREASE TODAY; FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE TUESDAY… Skies will become mostly cloudy on this Monday with temperatures that rise into the low- to mid-70s this afternoon. Most spots will be dry throughout the day and into tonight, but there could be a few isolated showers this evening over west Alabama. Our chance of rain will increase slightly for Tuesday, although rain amounts should generally be pretty light unlike the last few weeks when we have had heavy rain. We’ll keep a small rain chance in the forecast Wednesday thorough Friday but overall, MOST locations should be dry this week. The big weather story this week will be warming temperatures! We’ll rise to around the 80 degree mark by the end of the week. Let’s look at all of your forecast details.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE THIS EVENING… Most locales across south Alabama and northwest Florida will remain dry through tonight. If you are in Clarke, Washington, Mobile, Baldwin, or Choctaw counties, you have a low (10-20%) chance of rain as we go into the afternoon and evening hours. Rain should be limited to areas in those counties. High temperatures today will be in the 72-75° range.
ISOLATED SHOWERS ON TUESDAY… Rain chances will be slightly increased (20-30% chance) on Tuesday. The overall chance of severe weather is very low, and I suspect thunderstorms will be pretty hard to come by across our area. This will be an event with scattered showers. Temperatures will be in the mid-70s on Tuesday afternoon.
WARMER END TO THE WEEK… Wednesday is slated to be very much like the days that will follow with mostly cloudy skies and warm temperatures. High temperatures on Wednesday will be in the upper-70s. There will be a few peeks of sunshine, but skies will remain cloudy due in part to all of the clouds that will be streaming in from the south. Temperatures very well may rise to the 80 degree mark on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
SHOWERS & STORMS RETURN SUNDAY… Our next real chance of thunderstorms, with perhaps a round of stronger storms, will happen on Sunday. An area of low pressure will approach from the west with a trailing cold front. Combine that with the warm, muggy airmass that will be in place across our region out ahead of the front, and you get a setup that could be supportive of strong storms. It is the month of March, thus we will need to keep an eye on this system. I’ll have updates in the days ahead in the RedZone Weather app.
