WARMER TODAY; MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES CONTINUE… Get ready for what could be the warmest day yet of the year 2020 with high temperatures potentially surpassing the 80 degree mark in some locales across the interior of southwest Alabama. High temperatures will peak in the 78-82° range, with warmer temperatures happening farther inland. I expect mostly cloudy skies to continue throughout the day and into this evening. The warm, southerly flow off the northern Gulf will keep us in a warm, humid airmass that will support numerous clouds over the next few days. We are about to have the warmest weekend of the year so far with highs easily reaching into the mid-80s by Sunday! Let’s look at your forecast details.

TEMPS IN THE 70S THIS EVENING… No rain issues are expected this evening, but we will have clouds in place. Temperatures will fall into the low-70s by 7PM, meaning if you are planning to be outside for baseball or another evening event, we’ll have nice conditions in place. Overnight lows will be in the low-60s by Friday morning.

CLOUDS PERSIST INTO FRIDAY… Rain chances will remain low (0-20% chance range) for Friday, meaning vast majority of us will remain dry. High temperatures will be in the low-80s on Friday.

WARMEST WEEKEND OF 2020 YET… You’ll probably want the short sleeve apparel ready for the weekend as high temperatures will be in the low- to mid-80s across our region. There are some forecast models that suggest our forecast high temperatures of 83° and 82° for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, may be a bit on the cool side. Some models show inland locales reaching 86° and 87° in the afternoon hours. I believe that to be a bit too warm, but nonetheless, it is at least mentionable as a real possibility. Overnight lows will continue to be near 60 degrees this weekend.

MORE OF THE SAME MONDAY INTO TUESDAY… The most applicable phrase as we go into next week is definitely, “more of the same.” High temperatures will remain in the low- to mid-80s with a warm, humid air mass that will continue to be in place. I can’t completely rule out a shower on Monday or Tuesday but rain chances will remain low.

RAIN RETURNS WEDNESDAY… We will likely have higher rain chances on Wednesday of the upcoming week due to more moisture being in place across our region. Highs will again be in the mid-80s.
