RAIN & STORMS AT TIMES TODAY; SLIGHTLY COOLER… Showers and isolated thunderstorms will be possible on this Saturday, primarily in the afternoon and evening hours, as a cold front continues to slide through our region. Temperatures will be a bit cooler today compared to the last few days, with highs peaking in the upper-70s and near 80° as opposed to the mid-80s that we had Wednesday through Friday. Severe weather is not expected today, but don’t be surprised if you hear some thunder or see some cloud-to-ground lightning in the stronger storms.
NO FORMAL RISK OF SEVERE STORMS TODAY… The Storm Prediction Center has highlighted our local area in their “General Thunderstorms” zone, meaning there is no formal risk of severe weather today across Alabama or northwest Florida. Again, you may hear some thunder and see some lightning, but no widespread weather-related hazards are expected today.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE TONIGHT… The overall rain chance will lessen overnight but it won’t completely go to zero. We’ll call it a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight. These would be general storms with no severe storms expected. Most folks will be dry overnight with overnight lows in the low-60s.
MORE SHOWERS & STORMS POSSIBLE SUNDAY INTO MONDAY… Rain and storms will stick around on Sunday with high temperatures again in the upper-70s. Our weather pattern this weekend into early next week is very much like what we have in the summer where isolated storms pop up in the heat of the day. Rain chances on Sunday will be in the 40-50% range across south Alabama and northwest Florida. The same story holds true for Monday when scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up mostly in the afternoon and evening hours. Severe weather is not expected on Sunday or Monday.
DRIER TUESDAY… We finally get some uninterrupted sunshine on Tuesday as high pressure builds in across our region. Tuesday will be the start of a progressive warming trend. High temperatures on Tuesday will be in the low-80s.
FEW SHOWERS POSSIBLE WEDNESDAY MORNING… Some forecast models have alluded to the potential of isolated showers happening in the early morning hours of Wednesday. For now, we’ll hold rain chances in the 10-20% chance range as showers likely won’t be widespread or impactful. Highs on Wednesday will rise into the mid-80s.
APPROACHING 90 DEGREES BY END OF NEXT WEEK… Increasing temperatures and building heat will be the main weather story as we go into the latter half of next week. High temperatures on Thursday into Friday may hit 90 degrees in some cases across the interior of southwest Alabama. Overnight lows will rise into the mid-60s.
