NEAR PERFECT WEATHER TODAY; SHOWERS TO RETURN THIS WEEKEND… I would venture to say it doesn’t get much better for an early April day across south Alabama and northwest Florida than what we are expecting today, in terms of our local weather. High temperatures will peak in the upper-70s with ample sunshine expected throughout the day. Cloud coverage will increase on Friday ahead of showers becoming possible late Saturday into Sunday. Next week looks increasingly unstable with a chance of showers and thunderstorms coming back into our weather picture for Monday and Tuesday. Let’s look at your forecast details.
MOSTLY CLOUDY FRIDAY… We’ll start the day in the low-50s in most spots on Friday at 6AM, but we quickly will rebound into the low-80s in the early afternoon hours. Partly cloudy skies are expected in the morning with mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon and evening hours. Rain will hold off on Friday but there could be more in the way of shower activity Saturday evening into Sunday.
FEW SHOWERS LATE SATURDAY… Vast majority of the daytime hours on Saturday will be dry, with temperatures increasing into the low- to mid-80s by 2PM. Mostly cloudy skies are expected throughout the day. There could be a few showers after sunset, but widespread thunderstorms are not expected.
ISOLATED SHOWERS SUNDAY… Isolated showers will be possible on Sunday as an area of low pressure skirts by our region. Rain amounts should generally be light. Temperatures will again peak in the mid-80s.
MORE RAIN POSSIBLE MONDAY… Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be the story on Monday and Tuesday. There have been some scenarios that would support a few stronger storms on Tuesday, but for now, the overall severe weather risk remains low.
WARMER TEMPS NEXT WEEK… Temperatures will progressively be increasing over the next 7 days. While we have upper-70s expected for afternoon highs today, by this time next week, most spots will be peaking in the low-90s. By the time we get to Wednesday and Thursday of next week, we actually may be looking at heat index values that could be in the mid-90s briefly in the afternoon hours.
